Copper-bearing intrauterine device

Postpartum (in breastfeeding or nonbreastfeeding women, including postcaesarean section)

- 48 hours to <4 weeks

Organ transplant

- Complicated: graft failure (acute or chronic), rejection, cardiac allograft vasculopathy

Cardiac arrhythmias

- Known long QT syndrome

Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD)

- Decreasing hCG levels

Cervical cancer

- Radical trachelectomy

Uterine fibroids

- With distortion of the uterine cavity

Anatomical abnormalities

- Distorted uterine cavity

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

- Chlamydial infection (current) - Asymptomatic

- HIV infected - CD4 count <200 cells/mm3

- Postpartum sepsis

Post-abortion

- Post-abortion sepsis

Breast and Reproductive Tract Conditions

- Unexplained vaginal bleeding (suspicious for serious condition) before evaluation

- Endometrial cancer

Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD)

- Persistently elevated hCG levels or malignant disease

Cervical cancer

- Awaiting treatment

Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

- Current PID

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs)

- Chlamydial infection (current) - Symptomatic

- Purulent cervicitis or gonorrhoea (current)

Other Infections

- Tuberculosis - Pelvic
